Specialties
The 'gentle art' of movement, strategy and spirit. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is known for its ground fighting submission-forward techniques - chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulation. Rooted in self defense the practitioner avoids reliance on physical strength and weapons. The aim of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) is to control and submit an adversary through the use of movement, leverage, and connection. In essence it teaches any person how to defend themselves regardless of their physical attributes, by technically manipulating force and power rather than confronting it. For children - Gracie Jiu-Jitsu should be a fun exploration in play, with a supportive community of professors and coaches helping them grasp the importance of fundamentals in base and leverage. Children should be taught movements and techniques according to the appropriate developmental stage they are in, with the focus being on a functional repetitive practice.
