Gig Harbor Municipal Court is located inside the City Center on Grandview Street. The mayor appointed the current judge, Michael Dunn, in 1999, and court is held every Wednesday. The judge hears criminal misdemeanor and simple gross misdemeanor cases, including those involving DUI charges, theft, hit-and-runs or domestic violence. The only civil cases heard at the court are traffic violations. There are about 15,000 to 20,000 cases filed each year. Court administration internships are available for the members of the community.
