Durham's Board Shop sells and repairs skis, snowboards, skateboards, wakeboards and all sorts of water sport clothing and accessories. It also manufactures its own line of wakeboards — kind of a stubby surfboard that can be towed behind a boat — that it sells through other dealers across the country under the WakeTech name. The owners are Chris Nancy and his son and daughter, Matt and Katie Durham. Chris has 35 years of experience in water sports and was the first U.S. manufacturer of wakeboards. The big, high-ceilinged shop in the Lakewood Industrial Park is lined with colorful boards, rows of helmets and racks of t-shirts and swimwear. In the back is the manufacturing shop, where Matt and his helpers make foam or balsa-core wakeboards on huge hydraulic presses, one of which is largest of its type in North America. Durham's also repairs, resurfaces and tunes boards of all kinds, as well as snow skis.
