WFAX Radio began broadcasting in 1948 from the attic of a gas station beside Seven Corners, Virginia. Sixty years later, it has grown to serve America's eighth-largest radio market. Broadcasting from Falls Church, Virginia, our 5, 000 watts of power enables us to reach 3.5 million residents. WFAX has the distinction of being the Washington area's first Christian station. In this era of consolidation and corporate ownership, we are proud to be the only radio station in the metropolitan Washington, DC area still in the hands of its original owners. WFAX was founded by Lamar and Genevieve Newcomb, with Lamar serving as general manager and Genevieve as program director.
