Tavern on the James is opened 7 days a week, serving lunch and dinner hours vary and serving breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 8-1030am. We are proud to offer patio dining for up to 40 guests our dining room features lower level and upper level dining for up to 80 guests our bar area can accommodate 75 guests our upper level banquet hall can accommodate up to 80 and a pleasant sunroom for 10-15 people. Our menu features American cuisine with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and daily and nightly specials. Our bar is a full-service bar and features 7 large screen televisions. We have ample parking and are located within walking distance of many other shops and most notably the James River. Our culinary team is headed by the owner Spencer Marshall and his wife Kelley. Spencer is a very humble and quiet man and does not think of himself as a chef. However, his culinary abilities are exquisite and his daily specials delicious. Some include rack of lamb, pulled pork and pineapple, and filet mignon with bacon wrapped shrimp. Both Spencer and Kelley were very instrumental in the early stages of Tavern on the James formation, including building and construction, pre-opening activities on holidays,staff recruitment,and menu preparation.
