The Department of Community Development offers a range of community-based services for the people of Richmond. The department s land use administration division provides advice and analysis related to land use and development issues, as well as prepares and makes recommendations on various development projects, acquisitions, permits and encroachments. The Department of Community Development operates a housing and neighborhoods division that promotes neighborhood revitalization and stabilization with the involvement of residents and other stakeholders. It is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The department also has a comprehensive planning division that collects, analyzes and disseminates the U.S. Census data to the general public and other city agencies. Additionally, it offers property maintenance and engineering services. The Department of Community Development is located in Richmond, Va.
