Founded in 1970, Prince William County Police Department employs more than 500 sworn officers, over 100 part-time crossing guards, nearly 10 animal control officers and several investigators. It is approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and is located in Manassas, Va. Prince William County Police Department s operations division is responsible for maintaining police officers in constant operational readiness for immediate response to calls. The department s administration division offers support services to other sections of the police. Prince William County Police Department also operates a criminal investigation division that handles major criminal offenses and manages the department s juvenile education programs.
