The City of Poquoson Fire and Rescue works to protect lives and property through fire suppression, prevention and education. It offers fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, hazardous material education and emergency medical services. The department is also responsible for carbon monoxide and radiological maintenance, prefire planning and public speaking arrangements. The City of Poquoson Fire and Rescue utilizes ladders, fire engines, ambulances, and other rescue vehicles. It has a training division that is responsible for new recruits, as well as offers certification to its employees and volunteer staff members.
