Old Dominion Electric Cooperative is an electric generation and transmission cooperative that provides power to 12 locally owned and controlled electric distribution cooperatives. The local cooperatives, in turn, serve more than 1 million homes and businesses in portions of Virginia, Delaware and Maryland. Organized in 1948, ODEC is part owner of two power stations. It owns half of south central Virginia's 880-megawatt Clover Power Station, a twin-unit, coal-fired plant. It also owns approximately 12 percent of the nuclear-powered North Anna Power Station in central Virginia. The power stations provide more than half of the generating needs of member cooperatives. The balance is supplied through wholesale power contractual arrangements with several other utilities. With headquarters in Glen Allen, Va., ODEC is a member of the Touchstone Energy Partner Group.
