The National Society of Professional Engineers is a national organization that addresses the professional concerns of licensed engineer interns and professional engineers across various disciplines. It was founded in 1934 by a group of professional engineers and serves more than 45,000 members and the general public through over 50 state and territorial societies. The society promotes the ethical and competent practice of engineering, advocates licensure and enhances the image of its members. It provides opportunities for its members to join any of the six practice-specific engineering interest groups. These groups offers members with several benefits, including opportunities to network within their communities of practice; build leadership skills and professional alliances; and give input on products and services. The society offers online courses related to various subjects, such as ethics and risk management, budget information modeling and integrating trenchless technology. It also conducts Web seminars, annual conferences and independent study courses. The National Society of Professional Engineers is located in Alexandria, Va.
