Monticello-Home of Jefferson, located in Charlottesville, Va., is a museum and an educational institution operated by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation. It has various academic departments, such as archaeology, center for historic plants, curatorial, education, external affairs and human resources. The foundation has gardens and an online Monticello store that provides a variety of gift collections and Twinleaf historic seeds and plants. The foundation also has an archaeological collection of more than 250,000 objects and fragments related to Monticello plantation, art, artifacts, books, buildings, plants, garden and landscapes. Its restoration department has an extensive architectural fragment collection that consists of nails, masonry, woods, hardware, paint and coatings and miscellaneous materials related to the construction of Monticello. It organizes various education and heritage preservation programs.
