Laurel Hill Elementary School is the newest school in the Lorton area. Just off Silverbrook Road, school year 2010-2011 marks its second year of operation.

Suzie Montgomery is the Principal and Baek Chong is the Assistant Principal. The school colors are blue and gold and the mascot is a lion.

Newington Forest Elementary School

Silverbrook Elementary School

Located off busy Silverbrook Road, Silverbrook Elementary School is home to students from kindergarten to sixth grade. Dr. Melaney Mackin is the principal and Mr. Joe Bosco serves as the assistant principal. The school is in cluster five in the Fairfax County Public School System and feeds into South County Secondary School. Each fall, students are invited to participate in the annual "Fun Run." All runners who register help the Lorton Community Action Center receive financial resources through a grant from the Fannie Mae Foundation. In the spring, Silverbrook staff members play a friendly basketball game with staff from William Halley Elementary, which is located in Lorton, VA. off Ox Road. Both PTAs work to raise sponsors, and there is a large turn out of students and their families. Both schools also split the ticket proceeds. Silverbrook's colors are blue and white and the mascot is the Seahawk.

Gunston Elementary School

Gunston Elementary School is a public school in the Mason Neck area of Lorton that serves grades K-6. It is part of the Fairfax County school system. Gunston's principal is Tonya Cox. In the previous three school years enrollment was between 600-700 students with approximately 54% being boys. Four ethnicities make up at least 15 percent of the population. Gunston Elementary is in Cluster 4 and its motto is "Where Every Eagle Soars."
