History
The GCHS was established in 1978 by a group of active members keen to preserve the history of Greene County for future generations. Acquisitions and records were stored and displayed at the historic Jail House in Stanardsville, VA. In 2015, the GCHS moved into their new Museum and Art Gallery at 360 Main Street, Stanardsville, VA. This was primarily due to the generosity of benefactors Linwood A. Rhodes and Ethyle Giusppie. Committed and enthusiastic GCHS Board, museum minders, and volunteers keep it a show case worthy of your visit! Visit in person or online.
