About Our Firm Mellette PC is dedicated to the practice of health law. The main focus of our attorneys and staff is on serving health care providers in Virginia as they face increasingly complex health care laws and regulations from federal, state, and local government lawmakers and regulatory agencies. The knowledge and resources available at Mellette PC are unique in a small firm setting. Serving the client's needs begins with understanding the demands facing our institutional and individual clients. The firm's founding partner, Peter Mellette, grew up learning about medical delivery by working several jobs in a teaching hospital and had the opportunity to learn about small area variations in delivery of medical services and health care policy in college. He continued his interest in health policy through work as a Washington D.C. consultant and through multiple publications. Following law school, Peter Mellette focused his law practice on representing health care providers and learned about the demands placed on those in the medical profession. He had the opportunity to represent dozens of general and specialized hospitals, nursing homes, and health systems throughout Virginia, as well as hundreds of physicians and other health care providers. His scope of practice involved representing individual clients in state administrative hearings and drafting complaints on cases that went to the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been involved in drafting specific policies and vendor contracts and advising on transactions involving changes of facility ownership. The attorneys serving you at Mellette PC draw from this knowledge and experience and continue to focus on health care providers as valued clients, while understanding the demands faced by those in the helping professions. Mellette PC offers responsiveness, experience and value in legal services to health professionals and administrators. Our firm serves a variety of health care providers across Virginia, assisting them with a full range of health care law matters and regulatory issues.
