Founded in 1965, Fredericksburg Regional Head Start is a national child development program that includes services to promote the academic, social and emotional development for income-eligible families. The program serves children up to the age of 5. It is one of the longest running, national school readiness program in the United States. Fredericksburg Regional Head Start provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, dental, mental health, social services and parent involvement opportunities to low-income children and their families. It is administered by the Virginia Head Start Association, which works to promote school readiness for children through parent involvement, fundamental educational initiatives and volunteer utilization. The Virginia Head Start Association is a member of the National Head Start Association. Fredericksburg Regional Head Start is located in Fredericksburg, Va.
