Established in 1992, Family Preservation Services of Virginia is one of the largest providers of nonresidential, community-based services for children and families. It provides a range of home, community and school-based programs, including in-home counseling, substance abuse prevention, mental health care, day treatment, foster care and therapeutic mentoring. The organization administers the Virtual Residential Program, which features residential and psychiatric assistance for families, schools and the communities in which they live. Family Preservation Services of Virginia is licensed by the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services, also known as DMHMRSAS. It is a part of Providence Service Corporation, which specializes in case management services for children, adolescents and youths with behavioral health needs. Family Preservation Services of Virginia maintains a location in Pounding Mills, Va.
