History
Cravings for the Doener during a visit to the United States started it all. Then the American Embassy gave the GO and friends, family, investors and lots of passion made it possible: A good start and groth plans for the near future! Big thanks to our customers who supported us right from the start with our mobile unit in June 2006. Also, to everyone who brings this special, home-feeling-atmosphere to the restaurant and to the ones who relax when the doener crowd floods the Biergarten knowing all food comes out of a 6' kitchen ;-) Thanks, for bringing more and more friends and family with you, you are an important part of our history and of a growing Doener Community. On the 28th of March 2009, we celebrated the first anniversary for Hamburg Doener @ The Mighty Midget Kitchen. It was also the first day for our new name - DOENER BISTRO- to go public. We hold an annual Oktoberfest and a Christkindlmarket and host other small events on a regular basis. To be continued....
Specialties
Our location on 202A Harrison Street offers German Gemuetlichkeit in a unique Biergarten setting. We have 40 seats available inside and 58 outside. You can choose between 20 different kinds of beer, a small wine selection and prosecco. Our main food is the Doener Kebab - the most popular Hand-Food in Germany. We learned the skill of Doener-Making from Turkish friends in Germany, who owned several successful stores there. Therefore, we are able to prepare the meat (either chicken or beef) ourselves to ensure its quality and uniqueness. We only use natural ingredients. Our Original Doener comes in a hot flat specialty bread with fresh lettuce, tomato-cucumber mix, sweet and sour cole slaw, onions and is topped with our home made Taziki sauce (yogurt based garlic-cucumber sauce)
