The Children s Center provides speech, physical and occupational therapies to developmentally delayed children under the age of 3 years. It offers a variety of programs, such as pediatric therapy for children up to the age of 21 years; community child care for infants and children up to 12 years of age; and early head start for low-income pregnant women and families with children under the age of 3 years. It also offers early intervention services that include service coordination, audiology, special instruction, vision services, transportation and nutrition. It is licensed by the Virginia Department of Health. The center serves more than 800 children annually, with the help of over 100 professionals. The Children s Center was established in 1983, and has centers in Franklin, Suffolk and Smithfield, Va.
