A group of residents founded The Cardinal Hill Swim and Racquet club on June 24, 1967 as the Tysons-Briar club, a community swimming pool for the families and residents living in the area near Westerholme Way. The pool opened in 1968.
Today, 600 families belong to the private swim club, which has grown to include seven lit tennis courts; a large pool with two diving boards and a water slide, a training pool and a wading pool, a locker room and a bathroom, a picnic area, a snack bar and a sand volleyball court.
The club has its own swim team and tennis program, and belongs to the Northern Virginia Swimming, Diving and Tennis Leagues. Instructors are also available for swimming, diving and tennis.
