History
The West Townshend Country Store has been serving the community since 1848. The West River Community Project (non-profit) took over the building to save the post office that was going to be shut down. Over the last hundred and fifty years local residents have gather ed here to get all the local gossip and trade their produce for items they did not grow on their farm. We continue that tradition and place a great importance on local community, supporting local agriculture and the arts.
