The Vermont Association of Conservation Districts (VACD) is a non-profit organization established in 1983. They are dedicated to the conservation, maintenance, improvement, and development of land, soil, water, trees, vegetation, fish, wildlife, and other natural resources in Vermont. VACD works with private landowners, farms, state and federal agencies, and partner organizations to promote and implement conservation programs.
VACD is comprised of 14 Natural Resource Conservation Districts (NRCDs) in the state of Vermont. These districts were established in 1939 under the Soil and Conservation Act #246. The association conducts educational, scientific, and charitable work to support the conservation, improvement, and sustainable use of natural resources. They offer workshops and programs on topics such as no-till farming and pasture manure management for horses.
