History
The Station... is the original building built in 1905 at the South Wallingford, Vermont, Station of the Rutland Railroad. It was built to replace the former two story station which was destroyed by fire. This building, 16 ft. by 40 ft. was originally built at a cost of $1,876 Many local residents will recall its importance over the years and particularly during the South Wallingford World's Fair. During that time daily reduced rate excursions were run by the Rutland Railroad from both Rutland and Bennington. In May of 1963 the Rutland Railroad was abandoned. The building then served as a warehouse for the Rutland Telegraph and Telephone Co. In the mid 60's the building was dismantled and moved to the present location and opened as an ice cream parlor by Mr. Charles Schinn.
