The Springfield Fire Department offers fire protection and emergency medical services for more than 9,200 people. The department responds to over 2,300 emergency and nonemergency calls per year. It also specializes in vehicle extrication, hazardous material decontamination, and technical rope and ice rescue services. The Springfield Fire Department has a fleet of fire engines, ambulances, mobile air units, decontamination trailers and utility vans. In addition, the department offers online fire safety tips for children. It is governed by the city of Springfield in Vermont. The Springfield Fire Department also serves the residents of the village of Baltimore in Vermont.
