World Learning, located in Brattleboro, Vt., is a private, nonprofit international organization with academic and field project capabilities. The organization has four program units comprising the Experiment in International Living, School for International Training, World Learning for International Development and World Learning for Business. World Learning is involved in the fields of international exchange, study abroad, development, teacher education, language training and the management of nongovernmental organizations. It offers three- to five-week summer programs where students learn about the culture and language of another country. The students live as a member of a local family, engage in academic language and culture training, perform community service, and concentrate on a number of areas, such as peace studies, ecological projects and arts.
