Alder Insurance Agency got it's roots in 1927 during the Great Depression by Mr. David Alder. Mr. Lee Zundel joined the Alder Agency in June of 1956, and purchased the agency from Mr. Alder on January 1, 1984. On February 10, 1984, Mr. Zundel formed Statewide Insurance Agency, Inc as the parent holding company for Alder Agency and as a marketing arm for non standard automobile business, reserving Alder Agency for preferred personal and commercial business. Mr. Zundel sold the assets of both Alder Insurance Agency and Statewide Insurance Agency, LLC. to Mr. James Welch on January 1, 1996, and in doing so, formed Statewide Insurance Agency, LLC. Mr. Welch saw the value in the generic name of Statewide Insurance Agency and consolidated all operations into Statewide Insurance Agency,LLC. At he time of the purchase the agency was approximately 85% non standard auto business. In 2007 the agency was 75% commercial lines.
