History
Burns Cowboy Shop has been family owned for over 135 years. This shop started as an American dream of a local cowboy, Miles Lamoni Burns, who began his own harness shop in 1876 in the small town of Loa, Utah. The original store, Burns Harness Shop was moved to Salina, Utah in 1898 and was later renamed Burns Saddlery. Burns Saddlery still hand makes custom leather products including saddles, belts, and tack and also sells many other western products for the working cowboy. Burns Cowboy Shop opened on Historic Downtown Park City, Utah in an 110 year old building, giving the building the same inception year, 1898 as the first Burns Saddle Shop that was opened by Vivian Burns in Salina, Utah. The Grand Opening held November 13, 2008 at 361 Main Street, Park City, and was almost 110 years exactly from the time that Vivian opened the first shop in Salina in the fall of 1898. Burns' fifth and sixth generation recently opened another Burns Cowboy Shop in Carmel, California.
