Benjamin Williams, MD, says his mother taught him that it's nice to be important, but its more important to be nice, a care philosophy he brings to interactions with patients. He treats all conditions of the upper extremity, including shoulder arthritis and rotator cuff tears, biceps tendon ruptures, hand and wrist fractures and arthritis, and peripheral nerve conditions such as carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome.Dr. Williams considers conservative, non-surgical treatments first, but when surgery is necessary, he takes the time to carefully explain rationale and expected outcomes, making himself available for questions or concerns before and after surgery.Dr. Williams received his medical degree from The Ohio State University. He completed an orthopedic residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburg, followed by a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.Outside of work, he enjoys playing the guitar and woodworking, as well as outdoor pursuits including hiking, camping, running and fly-fishing.
