The Walker-Buckler River Ranch, located on both sides of the Clear Fork of the Brazos River in Stephenville, TX, is a historic ranch that was assembled in the 1920s by Breckenridge oilman Breck S. Walker. With a rich ranching heritage spanning nearly 100 years, this working cattle ranch covers approximately 22,991 acres and continues to be an important contributor to the ranching legacy of Shackelford and Throckmorton Counties.
Originally owned by the Walker family, the ranch was managed by Alice Walker and her relatives before being leased to C. M. Caldwell of Breckenridge and later Abilene. For almost 80 years, Caldwell Son, a partnership formed by C. M. Caldwell and his son Guy Caldwell, ran the ranch operations. In 2015, the Jones Tucker and Caldwell families purchased the ranch, which is now privately hunted and remains a significant part of the local ranching community.
