Dallas VA Medical Center, the referral center for VA North Texas Health Care System, has cared for America's military veterans for more than 50 years. The center has a partnership with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in Texas. Dallas VA Medical Center is an 84-acre campus that features multispecialty outpatient clinics, 289-bed acute care medical center, 90-bed transitional and 40-bed domiciliary care units and 30-bed spinal cord injury center. The center is also a teaching hospital that provides a full range of patient care services with technology, education and research. It offers comprehensive health care through primary, secondary and tertiary care services in medicine, surgery, mental health and rehabilitation medicine. Dallas VA Medical Center s innovative clinical services include cardiac surgery, geriatric care, magnetic resonance imaging and care for post-traumatic stress disorder. The center has a staff of approximately 3,300 employees and over 800 volunteers serve in many capacities throughout the facility. Dallas VA Medical Center is a part of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
