About Texas Rush Soccer Club Texas Rush Soccer Club is a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non profit corporation formed to provide youth soccer programs for the Montgomery and North Harris County area. Texas Rush Soccer Club has over 2, 000 players aged 4-18. There are approximately 1, 300 players in the Recreational programs, 700 players aged 9 and above in the Competitive programs, and over 35 participants in the Special Needs ( TOPS ) programs. The Recreational teams practice and play games at local parks. The Competitive teams practice locally, but play games against appropriate competition in the Houston area ( through EDDOA, EDSuper2 or TYSA ) ; Premier Division I or USSF Developmental Academy teams. Many of the competitive players participate on the various area High School teams. Throughout the year, the Club conducts various training programs, soccer tournaments, and soccer camps that include instructors from both the professional soccer ranks and national youth soccer coaching staff. The Club currently has 9 licensed professional coaches on staff full time and 10 licensed coaches working part time. The Recreational players aged 6-18 have professional training sessions once per week and one practice session a week with their volunteer parent coach. The competitive players are provided professional training three times per week for Division I teams and two times per week for Division II teams. Don Gemmell is the Technical Director for the Club. He was previously the Director of Coaching for Michigan Youth Soccer Association. Coach Gemmell is a national instructor for the US Soccer Federation and US Youth Soccer. Before joining Texas Rush, he was the Region II Olympic Development Head Coach for the '88 Boys and Head Coach for the USL-Professional Development League Michigan Bucks. Previously he was involved with 3 of the Top 20 youth soccer programs in the US-Michigan Wolves/ Hawks and Vardar. Coach Gemmell directs all soccer programs and manages all soccer coaches of Texas Rush. Texas Rush Soccer Club affiliated with Rush Soccer in 2005 ; representing over 33, 000 youth soccer players nationwide. Rush Soccer is committed to the development of healthy youth through the game of soccer. With a firm belief in the value of sports in promoting the physical, mental and social well-being of our children, Rush Soccer is devoted to providing our members the finest soccer experience possible, teaching the fundamental skills of the game and developing athletes through organized leagues, teams, tournaments, training, coaches and athletic facilities. Rush Soccer is committed to making soccer a pleasant, safe, and rewarding experience for everyone involved, regardless of ability, and we believe that all players are winners because everyone is afforded an equal opportunity to explore their potential and pursue positive outcomes on and off the field. Rush Soccer was formed in 2002 under the leadership of the Colorado Rush Soccer Club in order to broaden the scope of its proven coaching, player development and administrative methodologies to a national level. By affiliating with qualified soccer clubs throughout the United States, Rush Soccer uses personnel, technical and intellectual property exchanges to create efficiencies through economies of scale, promote player, coach and tournament exchanges, develop proprietary information technology applications, provide administrative and technical consulting, streamline branding opportunities and maximize potential for fundraising and sponsorship support. Rush Soccer's primary objective is to develop a national level club cooperative system that offers substantial opportunities for national corporate sponsorship and foundation support, provides the framework for a national coach and player development network, and will serve a significant centralized pool of talent for consideration by European, MLS, NCAA, US National and Olympic soccer programs.
