Texas Electric Cooperatives is a statewide organization dedicated to representing the interests of cooperative electric utilities in Texas and the member-consumers it serves. Established in 1941 and based in Austin, Texas, TEC represents nearly 70 electric distribution cooperatives and the state's more than 10 generation and transmission cooperatives. The TEC Business Alliance Program is designed to facilitate relationships with companies that are committed to enhancing the competitive position of Texas electric cooperatives. TEC's communications department consists of professionals, such as editors, writers, proofreaders, designers and advertising professional, that. produce Texas Co-op Power magazine, newsletters, news releases and advertising campaigns. Government relations monitors and reports on activities at the Legislature and regulatory agencies, in particular the Public Utility Commission. Texas Electric Cooperatives is headquartered in Austin.
