Texas Bay Area Credit Union was established in 1936 as the Houston Sinclair Refinery Employees Federal Credit Union. Its facility, then a small office of the Sinclair Refinery, opened with total deposits totaling $60.00, from 12 employees. Each charter member contributed $5.00, which began the legacy of Texas Bay Area Credit Union. Since that time, the credit union has grown to serve over 25,000 members, with total deposits exceeding $150 million dollars yearly. Its main office is located in Pasadena, Texas, in addition to two branch locations in the Norch Channel and Pasadena areas. A credit union is a financial cooperative, organized by people who have a common bond.
