Founded in 1883, the Temple Fire Department provides a variety of fire prevention and protection services. The department serves the residents of the City of Temple in Texas. It operates more than five fire stations and employs over 80 professionals. The Temple Fire Department maintains a fleet of ladder and booster trucks and rescue and command vehicles. The department responds to nearly 10,000 fire and emergency medical service calls every year. It offers programs and services to deal with residential fires, injuries and deaths. The Temple Fire Department helps to reduce the hazard of fires in commercial and manufacturing occupancies through proactive business inspection and code enforcement programs. The department organizes the Junior Fire Cadet program for children between the ages of 9 and 12.
