Like many other young families in Mexico during the 1980's, part of our family decided to move to America. We were filled with hope and looking for a better quality of life. I was little at the time, so I remained in Mexico with other family members while my father and two older brothers moved to Texas. It was quite different than what they were used to and there were many struggles to overcome, such as the culture or language. They first began working on local farms in the Madisonville area. Thanks to the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act, legal residents were provided the opportunity to become U.S. citizens. When I turned 19, I decided to join my brothers and father who had started a new life in Texas. When I arrived in Madisonville, my brother suggested we start a family business.
