History
St. Teresa was founded in 2009 as a grassroots response to the rising costs of health care in the U. S., the unstable economy that undermines so many people's livelihood, and the lack of coverage for acupuncture in health care plans. At present, Medicare and Medicaid do not cover acupuncture and herbal treatment. Some insurance plans provide coverage for acupuncture but on a limited basis and the coverage does not apply to herbal treatment, a very important component of Chinese medicine. Acupuncture and herbal treatment is still an out-of-pocket expense for the majority of people. With the growing number of Americans now relying more on Traditional Chinese Medicine as primary or complementary health care, it is no longer an optional health service but a necessity and our current economic challenges are not filling this need. For this reason, our vision of St. Teresa clinic was conceived to make Chinese Medicine an affordable and accessible alternative medicine for all people.
