The Smith County Historical Society maintains a museum and archives in Tyler's historic Carnegie Library building. We also maintain the Camp Ford Historic park, off of US-271. Our Society is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Smith County history. As such, we are open free to the public and encourage everyone to come down and see all we have to offer. In addition to our museum and archives, the Society hosts a monthly meeting and other events that are open to the public. For more information regarding these events, view our website or Facebook page. Our location at the Carnegie Library is also home to the Smith County Historical Commission. If you have questions and inquiries regarding State Historical Markers, please feel free to contact us.
