History
Having lived in Austin for seven years, owner Adam Garber felt that there was something absent from the existing pizza market. Every time he visited his family in New York, he would eat that much craved slice of heaven at his cousin's pizzeria on Long Island. So in the spring of 2003 he quit his job and headed to the Big Apple, determined to hunt down that secret mix of ingredients that made the famous New York thin crust pies so good. He convinced his cousin to let him apprentice at his well-known Fire Island pizzeria. There he learned how to make the perfect homemade pizza sauce and hand-tossed dough. He finally brought that slice of heaven to Austin when he opened Rounders Pizzeria in February, 2003.
Specialties
Growing up in New York, my family has always shared a passion for great pizza pie. Some of my favorite memories as a kid are of when I'd spend hours playing the arcade games, like Frogger, in a pizza parlor. My cousin had his own pizza place in Long Island and I long admired what he was doing and the wonderful pizzas he was making. After spending a summer with him, I decided it was time to take the New York style-pizza south to Austin, Texas I have always been a big movie fanatic and that is where I got the name Rounders. Las Vegas is a great town, and since was the setting of that movie, it had a big influence on the theme I wanted to create. Today, you are looking at the evolution of my dream. It's one I hope you admire as much as I do. Every pizza is hand-crafted from ingredients I have personally selected and is treated as if it were my own pie. So, come in, relax and have a great meal in a really fun atmosphere. Who knows, you may get lucky!
