With a strong commitment to high quality care and evidenced based practice Riata Therapy Specialists was founded in 2004 by Darin L. Deaton PT, MSPT, OCS, CAE and Tina Neuwirth PT, MPT, OCS. Darin had practiced in the Mid-Cities and surrounding area for 15 years and had established and managed several clinics. Tina had developed from a staff therapist in an orthopedic clinic to managing a mid-size orthopedic practice. Both Darin and Tina have built a reputation for providing results driven and quality orthopedic physical therapy. When Darin and Tina founded the clinic choosing the name Riata Therapy Specialists, many of their patients asked why they chose the name and tree symbol to represent their practice? Riata is the Spanish word for, rope or lasso, and the tree is accepted as the universal symbol for the field of orthopedics. The traditional symbol of orthopedics a bent tree that has been braced by the rope to make it grow straight reflects the early practice of using braces or other forms of treatment or disciplines to straighten broken, bent or deformed limbs. While our practice expertise and skill expands well beyond that of the early practices of orthopedic care, our treatment goal is the same restoring damaged bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves to their natural functions and original range of motion as best as possible; thus getting our patients back to the game of life! The rope represents the application of all that we have learned and are continuing to learn to Realize Individual Achievement through Therapeutic Advances. Riata Therapy is a progressive treatment environment that sees each patient as a consumer to the practice of physical therapy. The medical community is becoming more consumer driven and clinicians are realizing that patients have the opportunity to select a provider of choice. Riata Therapy Specialists wants to become the specialty provider of choice for patients/consumers within its ' market.
