The Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture is a 1,271-acre preserve between the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, Port Aransas Community Park, State Highway 361 and Piper Channel. The site features two gazebos and a large pavilion for wildlife viewing and hike/bike trails. The coastal prairie and tidal flats feature some of the best habitats our island has to offer. The Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture offers some of the best viewing in town for these majestic birds as they winter here on the Texas coast. Visitors can view the Preserve from the Pavilion. The Salt Island trail is currently closed due to storm damage, but the Preserve is working to reopen it soon. There is a one mile trail that features two gazebos and runs between the entrance on Port Street and the entrance at the Community Park, 700 Clark Parkway.
