History
The Pioneer City County Museum began in the classroom of Mrs. Gladys Harkins. From these humble beginnings the museum has had two other locations before being settled into its current home at Ragland House. This historic house was built by Judge and Mrs. R. A. Ragland in 1906. The family lived in the home until 1938. Just after WWII, the A. O. Patterson family moved into the house and operated a funeral home for 30 years (at one time partnering with the Melvin McCoy family). In July 1976, the Pioneer City County Museum officially reopened the doors to the Ragland House and has proudly served our community ever since.
