History
Phil Hardberger Park is a 330-acre sustainable natural urban park, complete with a nature center, outdoor classrooms, dog parks, play areas and trails for walking, hiking, and biking, that will be used for generations to come. This is the best place in San Antonio to feel the wild. The park has 7.5 miles of trails that connect to the greater Howard Peak Greenway. With lots of tree canopy providing shade, the park is a great escape from the immense San Antonio heat in the summer. The park is currently divided by Wurzbach Parkway. A Land Bridge is under construction to connect the two sides and will be completed in 2020. Until the park is united, knowing where to park to access the different parts of the park is important. There are two main entry points: PHP East on 13203 Blanco Rd and PHP West on 8400 NW Military Hwy. There is a third area that is the trailhead parking for the Salado Creek Greenway trails and the Voelcker Historic Homestead, located at 1021 Voelcker Lane.
