When J. Lindsay Nunn started his dairy with a mere 70 cows in 1934, he couldn t have envisioned that nearly seven decades later Plains Dairy would be selling approximately 110,000 gallons of milk a day to customers more than 500 miles away. As one of Amarillo s sole operating dairies, the company remains a Texas icon that generates annual sales of more than $60 million. The operations include not only milk and other dairy sales, but also juice, drinks and bottled water throughout much of west Texas, nearly all of New Mexico and parts of Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas and Arizona. The company also bottles and distributes Tampico Punch, Red Diamond Tea and Culligan water. Other dairy products include cottage cheese, dips and whipped cream. Plains Dairy is located in Amarillo, Texas.
