Founded in 1938, Medina Electric Cooperative is a nonprofit electric cooperative corporation that serves Atascosa, Brooks, Dimmitt, Duval, Edwards, Frio, Jim Hogg, Kinney, LaSalle, McMullen, Medina, Real, Starr, Uvalde, Webb, Zapata, and Zavala counties in Texas. The cooperative has more than 9,000 miles of electric distribution lines with over 500 miles of transmission lines and nearly 30 miles of underground lines. It provides services to more than 15,000 members with over 20,000 meter connections throughout Texas. The cooperative offers Internet, load management and economic development solutions. It provides a range of community-based scholarship programs and supports various schools and colleges. Medina Electric Cooperative maintains one of its offices in Hondo, Texas.
