The Lower Colorado River Authority maintains operations in Central Texas. It delivers electricity and manages the water supply and environment of the lower Colorado River basin. The authority also develops water and wastewater utilities, maintains public recreation areas, and supports community and economic development in more than 55 counties in Texas. It is a conservation and reclamation district created by the Texas Legislature in 1934. The Lower Colorado River Authority also offers water management and protection and job creation services, as well as operates an environmental laboratory and monitors the water quality. It works in affiliation with LCRA Transmission Services Corporation and supplies electric transmission services. The authority serves more than 1.1 million people. It also manages LCRA Credit Union.
