Buckner & Tilley, P.C, founded in 2006, offers comprehensive tax planning and compliance services to meet the needs of individuals, families, their entities, and businesses. Our clients, concentrated in the permian basin of west Texas, include individuals, companies and non-profit organizations involved in oil and gas exploration and production, oil field service and manufacturing, geologic data collection, ranching, private philanthropy, and financial markets. Laura Buckner C.P.A., P.F.S., is the President and Managing Director of Buckner & Tilley, P.C, a firm established in 2006 by Laura A. Buckner and Deborah H. Tilley as a successor to the Midland, Texas tax department of KPMG LLP. Prior to establishment of Buckner & Tilley, P.C, Laura developed her career KPMG, LLP from 1981 to 2006. She has experience serving public and private businesses, wealthy individuals, including their families and investment entities, and private foundations for more than 25 years. Areas of career experience include federal and state income tax, estate, gift, & generation-skipping transfer tax, and oil and gas tax matters. A Certified Public Accountant in Texas, she is an AICPA Personal Financial Specialist, receiving an award by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for submitting a paper of outstanding merit for the Personal Financial Specialist Examination. She earned a degree in Business Administration-Accounting, from Texas Tech University. Laura has presented multiple seminars on tax and financial planning issues, including as an instructor of KPMG national professional education courses. Her presentation experience includes the national convention of Society of Petroleum Engineers and local seminars on tax issues for the Texas Society of CPAs, the Institute of Management Accountants, the Permian Basin Graduate Center, the Permian Basin Petroleum Association, the Petroleum Accountant's Society, and the Natural Gas Producers Association. She is also the co-author of an article on enhanced oil recovery tax credits published in the American Oil & Gas Reporter magazine.
