The Fayette Power Project (FPP) of Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) provides electricity for more than 1 million people in Texas. The facility comprises three units capable of generating up to 1,641 megawatts of electricity. Its main fuel source is coal from the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, which burns cleaner than other types of coal and lignite. The Fayette Power Project s parent company, LCRA, is a conservation and reclamation district created by the Texas Legislature in 1934. LCRA operates solely on utility revenues and fees generated from supplying energy, water and community services. It supplies low-cost electricity for Central Texas, manages water supplies and floods in the lower Colorado River basin and develops water and wastewater utilities. The Fayette Power Project maintains a location in La Grange, Texas.
