Laughlin Air Force Base manages the 47th Flying Training Wing, which is one of the premier pilot training wings in the world. The base provides silver wings to more than new military pilots annually. The wing conducts joint specialized undergraduate pilot training for the U.S. Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard utilizing the T-37, T-38 and T-1A aircraft. The base also manages the 47th Medical Group, which offers support to military personnel and civilians. Its 47th Operations Group is responsible for providing aircraft maintenance and airfield management solutions. The base operates the 47th Mission Support Group, which offers housing and dining services.
