KERA Unlimited is KERA 13 and KERA 90.1, the nonprofit public radio and television stations for the North Texas area. The TV and radio stations serve more than 3 million viewers and listeners every week and produce more than 1100 hours of original local radio programming, along with quarterly television documentaries focusing on issues important to the state. On television, KERA contributes to the national PBS schedule, with productions that include Matisse and Picasso, the national Emmy-award winning The U.S.-Mexican War (1846-1848) and The American Experience: LBJ. The television station provides coverage of election issues, debates and conventions, locally, regionally and nationally. KERA 13 is a source of news, analysis and public affairs with such television series as Newsroom, featuring Jim Lehrer. On radio, KERA 90.1 produces The Glenn Mitchell Show, which airs weekdays. In addition, its reporters regularly contribute to NPR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Marketplace. KERA provides closed captioning and descriptive video services on television, and SAP channel for Spanish language translation. For more than 25 years, KERA has helped to provide services for the blind and learning disabled by broadcasting Reading and Radio Resource on sub carrier channels. The Reading and Radio Resource reaches nearly 2,000 individuals across North Texas.
