The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is responsible for protecting children and adults who are elderly or have disabilities living at home or in state facilities. The department licenses group day care homes and centers, as well as registered family homes. It manages community-based programs that aim to prevent delinquency, abuse, neglect and exploitation of Texas children, elderly and disabled adults.
