Founded in 1938, Housing Authority of the City of Waco, Texas provides affordable housing options for the citizens of Waco. It also coordinates, develops and offers cultural enrichment, child development, adult education, drug rehabilitation and homeownership programs. The authority offers more than 900 units of public housing and administers a rental assistance program. Its low-income public housing is responsible for the intake of public housing clients and manages housing development complexes. The authority also has various other departments, such as private market properties, finance, community services, rental assistance, maintenance, technical services and administration departments. Its finance department is responsible for monetary management, external housing, and urban development reporting and purchasing.
